What do you really know about Essential Oils?

Most of you will be familiar with essential oils. Lavender is for relaxation and sleep and tea tree for a breakout or head lice?

 

But, did you know that essential oils actually have an array of uses? Most essentials oils are beneficial to have around the house or in your first aid kit for any aliment that may arise.

Here are some of the best essential oils to have at home.

 

Lemon Oil

Diffused it helps-β €

πŸ‹ Keep you alert and focused β €

Used with a carrier oil as part of your skincare routine it-β €
πŸ‹ Kills Bacteria (great for Acne)β €
πŸ‹ It brightens the skinβ €

In your First Aid kit- β €
πŸ†˜ Used in a carrier oil it can be used on a wound as it has Antibacterial properties.

 

Lavender Oil

Most people associate Lavender oil with sleep/relaxation but did you know it has a lot more benefits too?β €

πŸ’œ Stress Relief- 4 drops into your diffuser promotes a sense of calm for its surroundings. β €

πŸ’œ Headaches- Lavender can be used neat on the skin. A drop applied to the temple pressure points can help relieve a headache. **Pregnant women should always consult with their doctor before using any essential oils. β €

πŸ’œStings- Use neat on the skin on a bee/wasp sting or an insect bit for immediate relief.β €

πŸ’œ Splinter- Similarly used neat on the area will allow for an easier removal. β €

πŸ’œ Burns/Cuts/Grazes- Applied directly on the skin can give immediate relief, used in a carrier oil like coconut oil can be applied to cuts/grazes. β €

πŸ’œ Laundry- A few drops on some kitchen towel into the drier will leave your clothes smelling lovely.β €

 

Peppermint Oil β €

There are so many uses for peppermint oil.Β Here are just some-β €

πŸ’š Tension/Migraine headache- To help relieve a tension headache use 3 drops of peppermint oil in 1 tsp of carrier oil and rub into the temple pressure points.β €

πŸ’š Aches and pains- Again dilute 3/4 drops of peppermint oil to 1tsp of carrier oil and rub into any sore muscles or joints.

πŸ’š Nausea- For nausea or an upset tummy rub the mixture as above directly onto your tummy.β €

πŸ’š Allergies- If you suffer from seasonal allergies, out a few drops of peppermint oil and some lemon oil into a diffuser.

πŸ’š Energy- If you need a little something to help you feel alert and focused on something you can sniff a little peppermint oil or alternatively pop some into a diffuser. β €

πŸ’š Tooth Ache- Pop some peppermint oil onto a cotton ball and use it in and around the toothache for some instant anti-inflammatory relief.β €

πŸ’š Foot Balm- We use peppermint oil in our foot balm, but the essential oil can be used directly into a footpath for some relief from hot or itchy feet.

 

Sweet Orange Essential Oil

There are different variations of orange essential oil. Tangerine, wild orange, Mandarin and sweet orange. We use sweet Orange essential oil in our hand balms and our Nourishing Body oil.

Here are some other ways you could use it-

🍊 Mood Enhancer- If you have used our hand balm or pop some drops into the palm of your hand, cup your hands and inhale the scent taking some deep breathes for a mood booster.

🍊 Anxiety- Use 1 drop of peppermint oil and 1 drop of sweet orange into the palm of your hands, cup them around your nose and inhale deeply.

🍊 Calming- As above use 1 drop of peppermint and 1 drop of orange and rub into the palms of your hands. Place one palm on your forehead and one onto the back of your neck and BREATHE.

🍊 Pre-Menstrual- 8/10 drops into the bath can help to relieve cramps. Similarly 3/4 drops into a carrier oil and rubbed into the tummy area can help with cramps.

🍊 Acne- 2/3 drops into some Aloe Vera and rub into any acne or problem areas for some anti-inflammatory relief.
